Student volunteers, work study and interns will work with the team in the Lazarex Cancer Wellness HUB, located in the Lindy Building at the Dornsife Center for Neighborhood Partnerships, 3509 Spring Garden Street. They will act as advocates and support staff for the Cancer Wellness HUB by conducting community outreach and engagement, helping to market and advertise upcoming events, assisting with virtual Cancer Health and Wellness Chats, workshops, and community and health events. They will also connect community residents with the Cancer Care Companion at the Lazarex Cancer Wellness HUB in order to talk about their cancer concerns and to be referred for services such as, cancer screenings, treatments, and clinical trials. In addition, they will also perform administrative duties, as needed assisting with HUB materials and inventory, data entry for record keeping and reporting and creating flyers for various programs and initiatives.
Volunteers and interns should have attention to detail and great follow-up skills. Prior volunteer experience is helpful but not required. Students also need to have a willingness to be flexible, and willingness to engage with the community, and an interest in healthcare or public health. In addition, they need to feel comfortable communicating with community members at all events and communicating with Drexel faculty and Staff. Students should have availability during the business week (M-F. 9-4). Weekend volunteer hours may also be available for events and programs.
