Who We Are

Bringing the vision of Tzu Chi's founder Dharma Master Cheng Yen and the dedication of its volunteers, Tzu Chi USA’s footprints entered the Greater Philadelphia area of Pennsylvania in 2006. The establishment of a small contact office in 2008 led to an increase in community service activities, focusing on individual relief cases and disaster relief distributions. In 2012, the Service Center was formally established on Ninth Street in Chinatown, Philadelphia, and provides a variety of services to nearby communities.

What We Do

Emergency/disaster relief distributions, individual assistance cases, school food and school supply distributions, winter distributions, soup kitchen services, street fundraising for major disasters, school attendance reward stores, character education, academic tutoring, scholarships for graduating high school seniors and college students, promoting SDGs (UN's 17 Sustainability Development Goals) and a sustainable lifestyle, promoting the adoption of a plant-based diet, wellness and medical seminars, bookstore, community volunteering, park cleanups, collegiate volunteering, youth volunteer group (for high school and middle school students), primary volunteer group (for elementary school students in grades 2-5), Dharma studies.
