A.J. Drexel Autism Institute - Project Career Launch | Peer Mentor Position

Become a Peer Mentor for Project Career Launch Project Career Launch is a one-year transition program in partnership with the Philadelphia School District and Community Integrated Services that assists young adults on the autism spectrum prepare for employment. In your role as a Peer Mentor, you’ll be assigned to work one on one with a student(s) which you will support in an ongoing relationship face to face for two hours per week.

Additionally, Peer Mentors will:

  • participate in scheduled activities and assignments
  • assist students in refining the skills needed to be successful in a college or job setting
  • learn strategies to best support young adults with autism work towards achieving their goals 
  • help set goals and work toward accomplishing them 
  • attend training, meetings, and other program events

Qualifications:

  • A Drexel University student in good academic standing able to commit for at least two consecutive terms for a minimum of four hours per week
  • Demonstrated emotional maturity
  • Positive role model
  • Patient and flexible
  • Respectful of individual differences
  • Willing to participate in mandatory training, meetings, and other program events
  • Background clearances as needed

SCHEDULE FOR Winter Q 2024: 

Wednesdays - pick one hour slot between the hours of 8:00am - 2:30pm

Students must available to volunteer for 1 to 2 hours per week in a face-to-face format.
