A.J. Drexel Autism Institute - Project Career Launch | Peer Mentor Position
Become a Peer Mentor for Project Career Launch Project Career Launch is a one-year transition program in partnership with the Philadelphia School District and Community Integrated Services that assists young adults on the autism spectrum prepare for employment. In your role as a Peer Mentor, you’ll be assigned to work one on one with a student(s) which you will support in an ongoing relationship face to face for two hours per week.
Additionally, Peer Mentors will:
- participate in scheduled activities and assignments
- assist students in refining the skills needed to be successful in a college or job setting
- learn strategies to best support young adults with autism work towards achieving their goals
- help set goals and work toward accomplishing them
- attend training, meetings, and other program events
Qualifications:
- A Drexel University student in good academic standing able to commit for at least two consecutive terms for a minimum of four hours per week
- Demonstrated emotional maturity
- Positive role model
- Patient and flexible
- Respectful of individual differences
- Willing to participate in mandatory training, meetings, and other program events
- Background clearances as needed
SCHEDULE FOR Winter Q 2024:
Wednesdays - pick one hour slot between the hours of 8:00am - 2:30pm
Students must available to volunteer for 1 to 2 hours per week in a face-to-face format.
