The Food Sourcing department is responsible for sourcing over 50 million pounds of food per year from various food donors to address our agency network’s needs across Philabundance’s nine-county service area in Southeastern PA and Southern NJ.
The Food Souring department collaborates with other Philabundance departments to coordinate, implement, and support the successful execution of Corporate and Community Organized Food Drives and Food Rescue events. Food drives and food rescue events are another important way Philabundance can source shelf-stable donations to support our neighbors in need.
The Food Drives Coordinator is an internship or volunteer position that will support the Food Sourcing team in coordinating donation logistics with groups hosting food drives to successfully collect food at Philabundance warehouses or direct delivery to Philabundance agency partners.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Monitor the food drive email account, providing prompt and helpful customer service to donors hosting a food drive
- Maintain food drive registration form to ensure proper tracking of all food drives
- Direct small food drives (less than 500 pounds) be dropped off to our warehouses or direct donors to schedule a pickup through our third-party logistics providers
- Maintain accurate tracking, coding and reporting in our inventory database and excel files
- Send timely thank you notes to food drive groups
This volunteer position can be completed remotely or be a hybrid opportunity at our North Philadelphia warehouse. Drexel Community Scholars are elligible for this opportunity. Weekly commitment: 10-15 hours per week.
