Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Week, January 10th, 2022- January 17th, 2022
Purpose and Opening Statement: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service falls on January 17th, 2022, and will be the 27th anniversary of the day of service that celebrates Dr. King’s Legacy. This day has been a call to action for Americans to commit themselves to giving back to their communities. To read more about how the Lindy Center hopes to honor Dr. King day this year, please read here.
This year, Drexel University will be honoring Dr. King’s Legacy with a week of service activities and programming from campus partners which will be observed from Monday January 10th to Monday, January 17th, 2022. The events will be hosted on the Lindy Center’s Civic Engagement database, Drexel Galaxy Digital, which is available to all students, faculty and staff of Drexel.
On Dr. King Day, the Lindy Center team will encourage the campus community to go into the city and choose volunteer opportunities hosted by external community organizations that can be found and accessed on the Global Citizen volunteer portal. This external database will be populated with hundreds of opportunities to connect with the Greater Philadelphia community. All Dr. King Day programs will be a mix of virtual and in-person opportunities for the larger Drexel community to not just honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr but the principles he stood for, the activism he practiced, his legacy and that of the civil rights movement he was a part of. In addition to service and programming events, the campus community will be provided with more insight into these and other aspects of Dr. King’s philosophies', life, and legacy throughout the week.

We are extremely grateful to the Drexel University Libraries for annotating the reading list with links containing DUL-licensed access to titles where available.
