Puentes de Salud works with Latinx immigrant communities in and around the Philadelphia area through high-quality healthcare, social and wellness services, and educational programming. The Puentes de Salud Education branch serves youth ages 3-18 and their families through out-of-school-time programming.
About the Program:
The Dance Workshops works with 1st-4th graders once a week at Southwark School. In these workshops, students will explore their cultural heritage and identities through dance. Students will develop their creative skills by learning and practicing Latin American dance techniques.
Position Description:
We plan to offer this workshop series in-person. Appropriate COVID-19 precautions will be taken to align with School District guidelines. This role will take place in person at Southwark School in South Philadelphia one afternoon per week. We are seeking Spanish-speaking volunteers in order to better create bilingual learning spaces that are accessible to students. In this role, the volunteer will support the Puentes de Salud team in the implementation and facilitation of workshops, student arrival and dismissal, and other group processes that make up the program.
Duties and Responsibilities

Participate in after-school programming once a week from 3-5:30pm.

Preview lesson plan and adequately prepare for activities each day

Support your team with setting up for each day’s planned activities

Support with supervision of students during snack, group transitions, bathroom breaks, and workshop activities

Support with children’s safety and classroom management using restorative practices

Support your team with clean up and student dismissal from program

Participate in debrief sessions after each day of programming

Contribute to overall program evaluation and growth through on-going reflection and feedback

Foster positive relationships with students and support on-going student voice and leadership
