
In 2026, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service falls on Monday, January 19th. Drexel University, through the Office of University & Community Partnerships, provides a wide range of opportunities to participate in service activities on MLK Day, as well as a series of educational and reflective events leading up to and after the Day of Service, celebrating Dr. King's legacy of fighting for racial, economic, and social justice.

In partnership
with ISSS, we are presenting a lunch and presentation about MLK: who he was,
why his legacy is so prominent in the US, and how people can get involved in
service on MLK Day and beyond. This event is open to anyone and lunch will be
provided to those who RSVP on Dragon Link.
Civic Engagement Mini-Grant Info Session

The Lindy Center
for Civic Engagement’s Authentic Civic Engagement (ACE) mini grant provides
financial support to student-led civic engagement projects that align with our
values of informed engagement, collective action, process over product, and
long-term change. Visit the mini-grant website for the official call for
proposals, application form, FAQs, and information about past grantees so you
can get a sense of what we're looking for.
The application is
open now through February 9, 2026. This session is for anyone interested in the
grant who wants to learn more and/or workshop proposal ideas. There is no
formal presentation; stop by any time to ask your questions and chat with
staff. We’ll have light dinner available.
Talking Tuesday: Breaking Barriers - Racism,Healthcare, and Healing (with partner Medlife)

Tuesday events are student-driven dialogues on issues affecting our community.
This month, we are excited to work with student org Medlife to have open
discussion about the topic of medical racism. All are welcome and dinner will

Students Organize: From MLK to Today – AConversation with Civil Rights Activist and Workshop Connecting Past &Present Movements (with partner Writers Room)

West Philadelphian
Norman Cain was in college when the Civil Rights Movement hit its stride—and he
was right there with it. Join the Lindy Center and Writers Room for this
exciting event featuring Mr. Norman telling stories about his Civil Rights
Activism, including meeting MLK and hearing him speak in Philadelphia alongside
local Civil Rights leader Cecil B. Moore, and an interactive workshop that
invites participants to connect the lessons of the Civil Rights Movement to our
current moment. We will also have special guests from the Drexel Libraries sharing historic Triangle articles about civil rights and what it meant to the Drexel community.
