Who We Are

The American Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence, Inc. (AATOD) was established in 1984 with the mission of improving patient care by advancing the development and expansion of comprehensive opioid treatment services across the United States. AATOD collaborates with both federal and state agencies on matters related to opioid treatment policy nationwide. Additionally, AATOD partners with the World Federation for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence to support international initiatives and engage with relevant agencies within the United Nations.

What We Do

The American Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence, Inc. (AATOD) organizes conferences aimed at educating and fostering the acceptance and integration of medication for the treatment of opioid use disorder among patients, families, healthcare professionals, medical systems, judicial bodies, government entities, policymakers, social service organizations, and the broader public. These conferences serve as a platform for disseminating innovative, evidence-based treatment strategies and initiatives, with the goal of improving patient care, enhancing program development and administration, and facilitating integration across the continuum of care. AATOD’s efforts are designed to strengthen patient outcomes and support communities in building a comprehensive and effective response to the opioid crisis.
