Drexel Graduate Student Association

The Graduate Student Association (GSA) serves as the governing body and planning board for graduate students in face-to-face quarter programs and recognized graduate student organizations at Drexel University. In collaboration with Campus Engagement within Student Life, the GSA advocates for all graduate students, including those in online and semester programs, working closely with the Graduate College and campus partners to enhance the overall graduate student experience.

Each year, the GSA Executive Board Members are nominated and elected by graduate students in the spring and serve from July 1 to June 30. The GSA, along with recognized graduate student organizations, organizes a wide range of programs and events, catering to the diverse interests of the graduate student community. These events foster connections among students, postdocs, alumni, faculty, and professional staff across various academic disciplines.

1. Bridge Communication: Act as the connecting link between graduate students, Student Life, the Graduate College, and University leadership, ensuring open dialogue and collaboration.
2. Student Advocacy: Engage with the graduate student body to understand their needs better and actively champion their interests and concerns.
3. Accessible Communication Channels: Establish clear and easy-to-use communication platforms where graduate students can voice their opinions, concerns, and suggestions.
4. Community Engagement: Foster a sense of community among graduate students through regular updates, social media interactions, and a variety of events—both in-person and virtual—focusing on personal, professional, academic, cultural, and social growth.
5. Collaboration with Organizations: Partner with IGSA, USGA, and other student groups to enrich student life at Drexel, creating a more vibrant and supportive environment.
6. GSA Expansion: Encourage more graduate students to participate in GSA committees and the senate, helping to grow the organization’s reach and impact.
7. Service Culture: Promote a spirit of service among students, encouraging them to contribute to the greater Philadelphia community through various initiatives.
8. Inclusive Excellence: Ensure that all GSA activities and events uphold the principles of justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion, creating a welcoming environment for all.

The GSA also advocates for and serves all graduate students across the University collaborating with the Graduate College and campus partners to enhance the graduate student experience.

From research symposiums, academic panels, interdisciplinary workshops, and writing boot camps, to ski trips, white water rafting, intramural sports, and happy hours, there is something for everyone in our vibrant Drexel graduate student community.
