Who We Are

OUR VISION

That the homeless, hungry and hurting in Philadelphia will achieve stability and self-sufficiency through a holistic transformation while experiencing the unconditional love of God.

OUR MISSION

We open our doors everyday with a welcoming spirit of Christian compassion, walking alongside the homeless, hungry and hurting of Philadelphia so that they may experience the love of God through acts of mercy, dignity and respect. More than just a safe space, warm bed and a hot meal, we empower everyone we serve through deep, intentional engagement with compassionate programs and trauma-informed care—activating their God-given potential for life transformation.

OUR HISTORY

A living legacy of John Wanamaker, we activate others’ God-given potential by serving the homeless, hungry and hurting through a wide range of loving, compassion-based programs and services.

As the city’s largest and longest-running shelter, we provide a safe, clean refuge off the streets along with deep, intentional engagement to see a long-term impact.

What We Do

MEALS FOR ALL

We open our doors 365 days a year with a welcoming spirit to walk alongside the homeless, hungry and hurting—offering physical aid, stability, restored identity and spiritual recovery—so that they may activate their God-given potential. Philly House is the city’s only provider of three meals a day, 365 days a year. We serve more than 10,000 meals each month to anyone who walks through our doors.

Every day the Philly House Homeless Services team and volunteers take time to sit down with guests during meal times to eat together. These family meals foster a sense of belonging and are an opportunity for guests to consider their next steps toward stability.

MEN'S EMERGENCY SHELTER

As the city’s largest and longest-running shelter, we provide a safe, clean refuge off the streets along with deep, intentional engagement to see a long-term impact.  Philly House offers overnight emergency shelter for men, allowing guests to stay with us for 30 days at a time.

Our guests come for shelter and food, and also find a holistic, empowering refuge from the streets through deep, intentional care.

PROGRAMS & SERVICES

We empower everyone we serve through trauma-informed care, a model that emphasizes more holistic, relational, long-term solutions.

Philly House serves more than 2,600 unique homeless men each year with excellence and compassion. Spiritual Recovery, Spiritual Care and Progressive Case Management are a few of the programs at Philly House.
