Who We Are
Our mission is to assist recently arrived Bangladeshi-American and other immigrant students and their families to adjust to their new environment and fulfill their American dream by achieving a proper education. Our mission is also to assist the children of Bangladeshi-American parents who may be struggling academically. We hope to build a stronger future for the community by supporting the balanced upbringing of our children. By assisting and educating parents and children, we help them become full, valuable, and responsible citizens of this country.
Moder Patshala began in 2004 when founder Ali Zaker noticed recently arrived Bangladeshi students struggling to succeed in school with new linguistic and cultural barriers. He found their parents were also struggling to navigate their new environment, and had little institutional support with their transition. For this reason, Mr. Zaker and his wife, Najneen Kabita, began holding after-school tutoring. Since then, Moder Patshala has served hundreds children, youth, and adults.
