Volunteer: Work Study or Student Volunteers for the Lazarex Cancer Wellness HUBStudent volunteers, work study and interns will work with the team in the Lazarex Cancer Wellness HUB, located in the Lindy Building at the Dornsife Center for Neighborhood Partnerships, 3509 Spring Garden Street. They will act as advocates and support staff for the Cancer Wellness HUB by conducting community outreach and engagement, helping to market and advertise upcoming events, assisting with virtual Cancer Health and Wellness Chats, workshops, and community and health events. They will also connect community residents with the Cancer Care Companion at the Lazarex Cancer Wellness HUB in order to talk about their cancer concerns and to be referred for services such as, cancer screenings, treatments, and clinical trials. In addition, they will also perform administrative duties, as needed assisting with HUB materials and inventory, data entry for record keeping and reporting and creating flyers for various programs and initiatives. Volunteers and interns should have attention to detail and great follow-up skills. Prior volunteer experience is helpful but not required. Students also need to have a willingness to be flexible, and willingness to engage with the community, and an interest in healthcare or public health. In addition, they need to feel comfortable communicating with community members at all events and communicating with Drexel faculty and Staff. Students should have availability during the business week (M-F. 9-4). Weekend volunteer hours may also be available for events and programs. The program supports young adults on the autism spectrum in preparing for employment and independent living. As a Peer Mentor, you will work one-on-one with a student, building an ongoing supportive relationship face-to-face for 1–2 hours per week. Peer Mentor Responsibilities: Participate in scheduled program activities and assignments Assist students in developing skills for success in college, career, and daily life Learn strategies to effectively support young adults with autism Help students set and achieve personal and professional goals Attend mandatory training, meetings, and program events Qualifications: Drexel University student in good academic standing Ability to commit to at least two consecutive terms (preferred), for a minimum of 1 hour per week Demonstrated emotional maturity and reliability Positive role model with patience and flexibility Respectful of individual differences Willing to complete required training and attend program meetings/events Clearances as required Winter Quarter 2024 Schedule: Wednesdays – select one-hour time slot between 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM Must be available to volunteer 1–2 hours per week, face-to-face Location: Main Campus, University City Organization: Transition Pathways at A.J.
