Inside/Outside Letter Writing 

Join the Abolitionist Law Center, Human Rights Coalition, & Philadelphia Muslim Freedom Fund at Writers Room for in-person letter writing to incarcerated people in Pennsylvania. 

Writers Room - 229 N 34th St. 2nd Floor

Our letter writing nights take place every second Thursday of the month. If you can't make this one, we will see you next month! 

Space is wheelchair accessible. Light snacks & drinks will be provided.

Time: 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Location: Dornsife Center for Neighborhood Partnerships at 3509 Spring Garden St, Phila, PA 19104.

Details of Activity: Setting up for community dinner, putting flyer packets together, assisting with dinner distribution, greeting and checking in participants

Volunteer: Peer Mentor - Fall Q'25 | Wednesdays | any 1-hour slot from 8am - 2pm

Become a Peer Mentor for Project Career Launch

Project Career Launch is a one-year transition program in partnership with the Philadelphia School District and Community Integrated Services. The program supports young adults on the autism spectrum in preparing for employment and independent living.


As a Peer Mentor, you will work one-on-one with a student, building an ongoing supportive relationship face-to-face for 1–2 hours per week.

Peer Mentor Responsibilities:

Participate in scheduled program activities and assignments

Assist students in developing skills for success in college, career, and daily life

Learn strategies to effectively support young adults with autism

Help students set and achieve personal and professional goals

Attend mandatory training, meetings, and program events


Qualifications:

Drexel University student in good academic standing

Ability to commit to at least two consecutive terms (preferred), for a minimum of 1 hour per week

Demonstrated emotional maturity and reliability

Positive role model with patience and flexibility

Respectful of individual differences

Willing to complete required training and attend program meetings/events

Clearances as required

Winter Quarter 2024 Schedule:

Wednesdays – select one-hour time slot between 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Must be available to volunteer 1–2 hours per week, face-to-face
