An effective hospice social work interns should have a compassionate and kind attitude toward their patients. They should strive to provide comfort and support for both the patient and their family members. They should be reliable, punctual, and prepared for the tasks assigned to them. Good communication skills are essential in this role, and hospice interns should have a good understanding of hospice services, as well as the hospice philosophy of care, taught during training. Finally, hospice volunteers should be non-judgmental and respectful towards patients and their families
- Volunteers and Graduate Interns that have network access can use email, the F: Drive and web-based
Office licensed products by going to portal.office.com. In addition, interns will have read-only access to
iConnect and to Homecare Homebase. Volunteers and interns do not receive any Compassus IT
equipment (laptop/tablet/phone).
Intern Responsibilities
1. Communicate any issues or concerns to the preceptor.
2. Communicate any issues or concerns to the Volunteer Coordinator.
3. Complete a separate volunteer visit log for each patient visited and submit to Volunteer Coordinator
after each visit.
4.Track their own hours for the internship in accordance with their internship program guidelines.
5. An intern will not chart or write notes on the patient in lieu of the colleague whom they are shadowing.
