Join JRA for its July Food Distribution! Volunteers can sign up to pack boxes of food, deliver them to community members in need, or both!
Packing takes place at JRA's warehouse in Northeast Philadelphia. JRA is proud of its efficient assembly-line style of packing to be able to pack over 3,600 boxes of food in just under a few hours. Some volunteers will be asked to hand out food at a station on the assembly line, while other volunteers walk through the line, having their box filled with food along the way. As we continue to return to "normal," masks will be required while working inside the warehouse.
Delivering takes place simultaneously. As boxes are packed, they are pulled outside to our car loading area. Volunteers can sign up in advance to deliver a route (anywhere from 2-15 stops) anywhere in one of the 90 zip codes we service. Once you get done packing, you'll be able to jump in your car, go through a drive-thru where you will receive your route paperwork and items for your delivery. If you're not ready for the crowd at the warehouse, you are ABSOLUTELY welcome to deliver only.
Schedule:
JRA Juniors (9:00 AM - 10:00 AM): This hour is designated for our younger JRA volunteers and their families to come and pack at a pace that is more comfortable for them. Families will push carts down the assembly line and pack their own items into the boxes.
All Packing (10:00 AM - 11:30 AM): This is our "main" packing event.
Delivering (9:00 AM - 2:00 PM): After you finish packing, jump back into your car, grab your delivery route and items, then head out to deliver to community members in need. If you're not ready for the crowd at the warehouse, you are ABSOLUTELY welcome to deliver only.
