Volunteers will support HIAS PA legal and social services staff in translation and interpretation, which could be virtual or in person. Volunteers can choose whether they are comfortable translating, interpreting, or both. Needs are communicated via email as they arise, and volunteers respond to needs that fit their schedule. There is no minimum commitment. Each assignment typically takes 1-5 hours. Highly needed languages include Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Haitian Creole, Spanish (in-person, business hours only), French (in-person, business hours only), Urdu, Ukrainian, Russian, Swahili, Tigrinya, Rohingya and Burmese, but all languages are welcome.
