The Barn achieves its mission through three main programs: Individual Programs, Camp Geronimo and Field Trips. Every year The Barn also offers several events geared to local families who have children with disabilities. These include an Autumn Festival, Spring & Summer Socialization Events and ‘Holiday Pancake Palooza’. In addition, The Barn provides parent support in the form of seminars and mutual support groups and as well as a lending library of resources for children with special needs.
Individual Programs: One-on-one programs are offered to children on a weekly basis. Children visit The Barn once a week for a six-week session to work individually with an experienced volunteer. The Barn’s staff develops a Barn Activity Plan to help set goals and track the child’s improvements over time. Parents/Guardians are involved in the goal-setting process so we can best understand each child’s capabilities and needs and determine how The Barn can complement any existing therapy or education.
Camp Geronimo: The Barn offers children a unique summer camp experience – an opportunity to have fun in a safe, secure setting while learning new skills that address their specific needs. At present, we offer six one-week sessions. A one-to-one ratio of counselors to campers allows children with a range of abilities to participate in summer camp.
Field Trips: The Barn offers virtual and in-person field trips to groups of students from local schools and programs serving children with special needs.
